My Topic of Interest

I am really excited about the project.  I think it will be fun, interesting, and very challenging.  I love a good challenge!   I am also looking forward to seeing each of your projects and the diverse topics.  I think we should all have fun with this.

I am not bubbling with excitement because I cannot chose so PLEASE help.   I am torn between —North Carolina Tarheel Basketball———Cemeteries in Yancey County——-My Personal Family History/Tree ——or My last choice –The history of the Quilts during the era of slavery.

I would appreciate help from all you.  I have difficult deciding between the above because NC Baskeball would be for my personal enjoyment.  Cemeteries because they interest me( or should I say are mysterious and at the same time a unique piece of history).  Family tree because it is personal yet informative to only me.  Last the quilts because it would apply more for my students.  If no one helps me determine which would be more enjoyable and fun then I will chose the NC Basketball.   Your input will be greatly appreciated.

  1. i think the cemetery idea sounds fun! especially because it’s around halloween! i remember going to a cemetery and making a rubbing of a tombstone. i’m not a big basketball fan so i would enjoy the others more, but that’s my personal preference and since you’re the one doing the project i think you should choose a topic that would interest you the most. i don’t know what ideas you have for basketball but it seems like it could be a lot of information! would you narrow it down to one player or one season or even the head coach?

  2. I think this is a decission you need to make on your own but I agree that you need to pick what is of the highest intersts to you. I choose my topic based on what I am doing in my classroom so I can implement it directly into my teaching. Although this is beneficial and will take away some planning in my future it also has its drawbacks because it is not something I am passionate about. I think you should think about what would be the most enjoyable for you and what you would be able to benefit the most from. The reading talks a lot about having defenses for why you choose your topic and each individual genre within this topic, perhaps doing some shortened versions of these will help to guide your decission.

I’m excited to see your presentation. I’m sure it will be very interesting. Great choice!

  4. your project was so cool! i never would have thought about researching cemeteries. and you were so creative in presenting it! :) thanks!!!!

  5. I actually liked learning about cememteries. It was really cool how excited and involved you got with your project. I like what you shared from the interviews the best. I had to laugh when you suggested selecting a name from a trip to the cemetery…although a great idea I do not think I could ever get myself to do that.

You did such a great job on your project. I think your presentation was wonderful. I loved the tombstone “big book.” That’s the only word I could think of for your book. I thought the interview was wonderful. I also love how much time and effort you put into your project.
